Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Jack A. Nelson

Dr. Nelson 4O.M.S. is a surgical specialty requiring an additional 5-6 years of education after professional (medical/dental) school. O.M.S. involves the treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions: face, jaw and mouth.  Dr. Nelson received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Davis 1984; Doctor of Dental Surgery from Georgetown University School of Dentistry, Washington DC 1989;  Completed his General Practice Residency, at the Catholic Medical Center, St Mary’s Hospital, Brooklyn NY from July 1989-July 1990;  Served as Hospital House Staff, Department of Dentistry Catholic Medical Center of Queens, NY July 1990-July 1991; Served as resident in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Jersey City Medical Center, Jersey City, NJ from July 1, 1991- July 1994.  Served as Chief Resident and Attending Surgeon  Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Department in both NY and NJ City Medical Center,  from July 1994- July 1995.  Associate Attending Professor Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, NY 1996-2007.   Chief Oral  & Maxillofacial Surgeon on staff at DDI Developmental  Disability Institute in Riverhead for over 15 years. Former Dental Staff President at Southampton Hospital and presently on staff at Stony Brook Hospital.  Dr. Nelson has been in private practice since 1995. 

Dr. Nelson relocated to the East End in 1992 and entered into private practice with the goal of providing exceptional and caring oral surgical services to the residents of the east end of Long Island. Dr. Nelson maintains 3 offices: Hampton Bays, Southampton, East Hampton. Former President of Southampton Hospital  Dental Staff. Primary on call for O.M.S. Southampton Stony Brook Hospital Emergency Room. Dr. Nelson with his wife and three sons Andrew, Michael and Lucas are full time residents of Southampton.  Both Dr. Nelson and his wife Chrys are active community members. His patient’s well being is his greatest priority and strives to provide quality professional care in a comfortable and safe setting. He treats all of his patients like family.
